Timeline of Hindu Mythological History

Extract from Wikipedia Brahmanical Tradition Cosmogony and the Antediluvian history [ edit ] According to the Vedic traditions, human history proceeds in cycles, dependent on the evolutions and dissolutions of the world. Time is divided into four ages –  Krita Yuga ,  Treta Yuga ,  Dvapara Yuga  and  Kali Yuga  – collectively forming one  Maha Yuga . Seventy-one Mahayugas form a  Manvantara , a period of time over which a  Manu  presides. In each cycle, this Manu is the first man and also the first king and lawgiver. Every Manvantara has its own set of  Indra , gods and seven sages. Fourteen Manvantara create a  Kalpa (aeon) , after which the creation comes to a close in a periodical destruction called  Pralaya . After that, the creation starts all over again in an endless cycle of evolutions and dissolutions. The traditions relate that the present Kalpa is called  Varaha . Out of the fourteen manvantaras ...

The Strategist's darker side

Image result for shakuniImage result for nagamma palnati

Today I would like to discuss two strategists one in the Indian legendary book Mahabharta  called Shakuni responsible for Mahabharata war and a female strategist in Andhra responsible for the Palnadu war and the darker side of strategy which these two people used to cause differences between people and further fan the differences to such a extent so that the two parties eventually would end up killing each other and thus causing the downfall of the kingdoms of the two parties involved in the fight and a significant loss of kith and kin and relatives in the war they fought.

I would like to point few similarities between the two stories one is a real story that happened in palnadu and one is written in a book called Mahabharata which many people in India believe to be true.

Shakuni was the brother of Duryodhana's mother called Gandhari and he ruled the present day afghanistan and surrounding area.Duryodhana and his brothers once fought with pandavas and made fun of them that their fathers are Indra,Vayu,Yama,Ashwini devatas and then pandavas also made fun of them that they are the children of a widow and Gandhari married a goat before marrying Dritharashtra and this was not revealed to anyone.Duryodhana attacks the kingdom of Shakuni and starves to death all of Shakuni's brothers and his father and Duryodhana gives one grain a day to all the people in the prison.Shakuni survives this holocaust and Duryodhana keeps him with him so that he can live with them.Shakuni swears vengeance on Kuru kingdom and strategizes for its downfall. He fans the enemity and differences that exist between kauravas and pandavas and tries to kill pandavas in a home made of lac,he also makes sure that the kingdom is divided into two when pandavas return unscathed due to the help they receive from Krishna,he advises duryodhana to call pandavas for a gambling game and he fixes the game and makes pandavas lose the entire kingdom and cause insult to Draupadi. When Krishna comes for  a diplomatic mission for  compromise then he doesn't allow this to happen which eventually results in war and downfall of the kuru kingdom. This is also called kutila neeti in India  or is called mitrabedha technique as per panchtantra which is another strategy text and is the darker side of a strategist.

Similarly in Palnadu there was a difference between the velama ruler and the prime minister brahma naidu and the brahmin priests on allowing the lower caste people equal status and allowing them to Shiva temples. The brahmin priests sends the women strategist Nagamma to make sure brahma naidu is sent out of the kingdom and also loses his prime ministerial position. She takes the rule of the kingdom for one day as she had that power granted to her for one day and becomes the prime advisor of the velama king who is in agreement with her over not allowing lower caste people to the shiva temples as this may cause the neighbouring kingdoms to attack their kingdom and is also doubtful on brahma naidu that he is trying to create situations that will make him the king of the kingdom. She creates a theft and varios riots in the kingdom and helds brahma naidu responsibe for this and asks him to leave the kingdom during that one day rule of her. Then one brother of the velama king goes along with brahma naidu and asks for partition of the kingdom..Then she calls the other brother for a cock fight game and the puts a condition that the loser should go on to live in forests for 7 years.Nagamma fixes this cock fight game by putting a poisonous knife to her cock and then asks the velama king with Brahma Naidu to leave the kingdom to live in forests for 7 years. Then she calls the son in law of the velama king for a diplomacy mission and kills him by poisoning his milk. Then the war ensues and all the velama clan is killed in this Palnadu war.Nagamma later regrets her tasks and her propensity for vengeance and turns into a saint but the damage is done.

In India today the darker side of Strategist plays a major rule in gaining leadership positions and also to cause damage to the society by fanning the mutual differences that exist between different parties involved.I will discuss the positive side of Strategist from Krishna's life in another article.

Faction Story of Anantapur

The killing of warlord Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelachervu Suri here brought an end to the chilling factional feud and a bloody saga of revenge between two families of Andhra Pradesh'? Anantapur district which Ram Gopal Varma turned into a movie 'Rakta Charitra'. Two generations have been brutally eliminated in the nearly four-decade long fight between the families of Suri and Paritala Ravi. Except one brother of Suri, who died in a road accident, all other family members of the two warlords were murdered by rivals in the most brutal fashion. Suri, the key accused in the murder of former Andhra Pradesh minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Paritala Ravi and in the killing of 26 people in the 1997 bomb blast in Hyderabad, was the last family member of his generation to fall to bullets. It was an end that was not unexpected even for Suri. Ever since he was released from prison in December 2009, the 39-year-old Suri always feared for his life. 'Facti...

Modus Operandi of Factionalism in Rayalaseema-Extract from Shodganga

III. FACTIONALISM: HISTORICAL AND SOCIO ECONOMIC ORIGINS  This chapter attempts to analyse the nature of factionalism and the reasons as to why it is fraught with culture of violence in the Rayalaseema region and also to trace the growth of factions in Kurnool district from pre-independence to postindependence period. The present scenario indicates that the armed factional culture is prevailing in the three districts, Kurnool, Cuddapah and Anantapur of Rayalaseema. While landed disputes, conflicts for personal prestige and dominance characterise the politics in the state, it is in Rayalaseema that they lead to murders and counter murders as the factions are armed factions. To this issue people mythically remark that the 'soil' of Rayalaseema is known for such behaviour and its water nourishes it. They also attribute it to the "water" of rivers like Kundu and Handri' . The other question as to why in Rayalaseema in general and specifically in Kurnool district,...
